Harbor Freight Price Report, Week of Nov 6: Real Lows, Fake Deals, and Clearance Drops

Lowest-ever coupons worth a trip

The best deal this week is HFT 8-1/2 ft. x 3/4 in. Double-Sided Mounting Tape. The coupon price is $1.00, down from the usual $2.99, which is 67% off and the lowest it has ever been. It runs through Nov 18, so there is no rush, but it costs a dollar.

Two screwdriver sets, ICON Professional Mechanics Screwdriver Set, 8-Piece, Green and Professional Mechanics Screwdriver Set, 8-Piece, Red, drop to $24.99 with a members-only coupon through Nov 12. That is 55% off the usual price, and the lowest ever was $46.74. Same price on both, so pick the color you like.

PREDATOR 3 in., 212cc Gasoline Engine Semi-Trash Water Pump, 290 GPM is a members-only $199.99 through Nov 12, against $449.99 now and a previous low of $329.99. If you need a pump, that is a real one. Also members-only: MADDOX Disc Brake Pad and Caliper Service Tool Kit, 11-Piece at $19.99 through Dec 3, and STIKTEK 60 ft. x 3/4 in. Heavy Duty Electrical Tape at $0.89 through Dec 3. The tape's previous low was $1.00, so that one is a small gain.

Coupons that save nothing

Six coupons expiring Nov 25 are priced no lower than what the items usually sell for. STOREHOUSE V-Shape Hang-All is $2.29 against a regular $2.49. PITTSBURGH 6 in. Torpedo Level with Magnetic Strip is $2.49 against $2.79. The three safety glasses, WESTERN SAFETY Safety Glasses with Smoke Lenses, WESTERN SAFETY Safety Glasses with Yellow Lenses and WESTERN SAFETY Safety Glasses with Clear Lenses, are $2.49 against $2.99. HFT 5 ft. 6 in. x 7 ft. 6 in. Blue All-Purpose Weather-Resistant 4 mil Tarp is $2.99 against $3.49.

Skip the urge to treat these as sales. If you need any of them, buy them whenever you are in the store. There is no reason to plan a trip around them.

Biggest drops and clearance

The welders moved this week. CHICAGO ELECTRIC 170 Amp-DC, 240V MIG/Flux Cored Welder is $129.97, down from $152.97 a week ago and 15% off. CHICAGO ELECTRIC Flux 125 Welder is $79.97, down from $93.47, or 14%. Both hit clearance on Nov 2 and were marked down again. If you have been eyeing a welder, this is a good time to buy.

HERCULES 20V 2 Ah Lithium-Ion Compact Battery fell 22% in a week to $19.97, and it has been on clearance since Oct 31. LUMINAR OUTDOOR 24 ft., 12-Bulb Shatterproof Outdoor Color-Changing LED String Lights is $34.97 on clearance, 9% below last week. Cheap fixes also dropped: PITTSBURGH 24 in. General-Purpose Tire Iron is $5.00, down 35%, and PITTSBURGH Snap Ring Pliers with Interchangeable Heads is $3.00, down 29%.

Two more clearance items were marked down again. BAUER 7.3 Amp, 1 in. SDS-PLUS Type Variable-Speed Rotary Hammer is $39.97, down from $49.97 and well under the usual $89.97. BAUER 20V 5 Ah Lithium-Ion Battery and Charger Starter Kit is $99.97, down from $109.97.

Up close: the spray gun

CENTRAL PNEUMATIC 20 oz. HVLP Gravity-Feed Air Spray Gun, 1.4 mm Nozzle is $99.99 now, and our call is Fair. The lowest ever was $9.98, from Oct 5 to Oct 18. That looks like a pricing glitch more than a real sale, and it was back to $99.99 on Oct 19.

It dipped to $84.99 from Oct 30 to Nov 1, then returned to $99.99 on Nov 2. If you need one, $99.99 is the going rate. Waiting for another dip is a coin flip.
